Distant Reiki: the new evidence and next steps
Date: Wednesday 18 Oct, 7pm (BST)
Cost: Donation-based

‘Distant’ or ‘remote’ Reiki has been practised all over the world for decades. Outside Reiki circles, however, the practice is little known or valued. In this webinar we discuss the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, studies demonstrating the value of distant Reiki, published evidence and plans for a large randomised control trial through Reiki Medic-Care (RM-C), UK in partnership with the Center of Reiki Research (CRR), USA.
Our guest speaker is Dr Natalie Dyer, PhD, who is President of the Center of Reiki Research in the USA, and who together with Dr Ann Baldwin, PhD and two RM-C directors, was the author for a recently published research article. [Dyer NL, Baldwin AL, Pharo R, Gray F. Evaluation of a Distance Reiki Program for Frontline Healthcare Workers’ Health-Related Quality of Life During the COVID-19 Pandemic. Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health. 2023;12. doi:10.1177/27536130231187368]
The RM-C’s voluntary programme was born during the COVID pandemic. It delivers distant Reiki to hospital clinicians, nurses, midwives and ambulance paramedics without charge. Its bespoke online booking and data collection portal ensures complete client confidentiality and allows hard-pressed medical professionals to choose dates and times when they are able to receive treatments outside of their work schedules.
We will talk about how this compassionate service is building bridges between Reiki and the medical communities, not just in the UK. Also, how the evidence-base can, together with in-person treatments, help medical staff and their patients as an integral part of holistic and integrative healthcare.
The webinar will hear about RM-C’s next steps for extending the service internationally, and bring together members of the Reiki community to talk about the launch of a worldwide support network run, led by Reiki practitioners in Ireland and Australia.
There will be an opportunity for Q&A’s and creative audience participation.
If you registered for this event, you will have received a link to the recording by email within a week.
If you missed the registration, we will send you a recording for a donation-based contribution of £5, or the fee amount originally stated charged for the event.
